Custom Smartcard Artwork Designs
We can print any design of your choice onto the smartcards. All you need to do is prepare the artwork according to the design guidelines shown below, and send it to us for approval before ordering your cards. We will then send back an artwork reference number to quote when ordering your cards.
When submitting artwork, it's best to save the image in a 'non-lossy' format, (eg .png), and ensure the image size is 1008x624 pixels for best print results.
For cards with custom artwork, there is a small setup charge made for checking your artwork and preparing it for our printer. This will only be charged once per design, no matter how many cards you order using the design. You can even re-order cards with the same design at a later date for no additional setup charges.
For card printing, we use a photo quality dye-sublimation printer that is designed for printing directly onto PVC cards. This printer produces very good results when printing onto plain PVC cards (ie. ID cards), but there are a few things you have to keep in mind when designing artwork for smartcards.
The printer requires that the print head makes good contact with the surface of the card when printing. So the card must be completely smooth in the area that is to be printed. Due to the way that smartcards are manufactured, the area where the chip contacts are mounted usually causes a small amount of distortion in the card.
This means that in these distorted areas there will be patches that cannot be printed, and so the plain white background of the card will show through.
